Do you have a feeling that your period is around the corner? For most women, this intuition is because of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or the change in their energy levels, the tenderness of the body, etc. Being mindful of the cycle will help you to be certain of your period to not have it sneak up on you. Aligning with the framework of the seasons and the moon, the inner journey will become your storehouse for energy and manifestations.
Inner Winter: the message
Inner winter or your Menstrual Phase starts from the end of your last cycle to the beginning of the new one which is essentially the days of your bleed.
How do you feel in the winter season? Wanting to cosy up, preparing your new year resolutions, thinking back on what things went wrong and what you’d want to change, celebrating the holidays in honour of the year ending and everything it gave you.
The inner winter of your body implies you do the same: surrender. Go inwards into retrospection of your needs, your desires, where they come from, what has the previous cycle taught you. Take time to assess these feelings and surrender to the flow- of your blood and your revelations. Rest and take care of yourself, cosy up and indulge yourself into your intuitions.
What happens in this season?
At the start of your bleeding, your oestrogen and other reproductive hormones dip which automatically hints you to rest as it makes you feel tired. This is the time when you bleed so your body is working to shed the uterine line and your womb is asking you to rest. Not resting means forcing your body to go against its natural moves and so the fatigue due to lack of stimulation from oestrogen, progesterone results in headaches and body aches.
The Vision:
Once you allow yourself to focus inward- your inner wisdom, your hidden self, the person without any mask, the one looking through all the roles and responsibilities- you will feel less burdened. The feeling of ease will pass through your body and you would want to just lay in the comfort of knowing that some burdens are not yours to bear.
Your rest and surrender will spoon-feed you everything that doesn’t serve your being or it can spill into the next half part of your cycle.
To surrender means to let go, let flow, and let god so you will find the part of yourself that has been hidden, unhealthy patterns that need to break. As you bare with your realest being, it could get daunting so it’s advisable to journal your emotions that carry insightful messages. Avoid making social commitments because as the leaves fall and animals hibernate, your body is asking you to anchor your awareness and mindfulness through your bleed as you prepare your body for what comes next.
In drops:
-Time to rest and allow your body some energy
- Avoid social meetings and go hibernate
- Inward focus; see what needs to let go and surrender to your feelings.
- Make note of your insights and new goals
